THE 2026 CONTEXT

Romania and the shades of truth

At the beginning of 2026, only 18.4% of Romanians trust the Government, while the Romanian Parliament ranks last at 11.9%, according to research published by INSCOP Research in January 2026.

Romanians, however, find stability in the European Union, with 74% considering the European Union a place of stability in a troubled world, according to the latest Eurobarometer. Even so, the war at the border, international conflicts and global tensions leave little room to actively promote the benefits Romania has enjoyed and continues to enjoy during its 19 years of EU membership.

In a public sphere with fewer and fewer debates, yet increasingly divided and polarized by convictions, Europuls aims to bring divergent opinions and complicated topics to the same table, and to put forward arguments that help inform citizens accurately. After all, truth is never black or white; it has many shades that deserve debate.

Eurosfat Forum 2025 Retrospective

The 14th edition of the EUROSFAT Forum features a series of debates, fireside chat dialogues and workshops designed to bring together diverse views on European topics with a direct impact on citizens’ lives, in order to combat societal polarization and maintain constructive, substantive dialogue in Romania’s public sphere.

This year’s edition also exclusively features the Romanian-language launch of Guy Verhofstadt’s book, titled “Defeating Trumpism.”
